After working as an engineer and Project manager with award-winning structural design and construction firms for over 15 years, Marcus E. Woods founded his own structural design firm, Three Pillar Structural Engineering group. Mr. Woods is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states, holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on structures) from Washington University in St. Louis, and has earned “Accredited Professional” status from the U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Woods is a member of: the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Woods Educational Enrichment Foundation (WEEF).

Richard is a highly skilled and accomplished structural engineer with 12+ years of expertise in various domains of structural design. His extensive background encompasses a wide range of projects, including residential design, high-performance structural facades, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, and the meticulous structural analysis and design of unique artwork and architectural installations.
With an exceptional eye for detail and a passion for innovation, Richard consistently delivers outstanding results and has garnered a reputation for his ability to handle projects of all sizes, from intricate component design to the construction of conventional building structures. His diverse experience in designs throughout the country allows him to tackle complex challenges with ease, finding creative and efficient solutions that optimize both form and function.
Beyond his technical expertise, Richard is known for his collaborative approach and knack for solving problems with elegant solutions.
